Jason was a hero and a prince, raised by Chiron the Centaur after his mother hid him away from his father. Upon his return, his father sent him on a quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece to prove himself worthy of the throne. Which brings him to Colchis, home of the Granddaughter of the Sun God, Medea.
Medea craved adventure so she agrees to assist Jason on his quest. She uses her sorcery to assist Jason at every step. When Jason had to yoke fire-breathing oxen, Medea game him a fire-proof unguent. As he sowed the teeth of a dragon which grew into soldiers, Medea threw a stone amongst them to distract them so they could get away. And when they were faced with the dragon who guarded the Fleece, Medea brewed a sleeping potion for Jason to give the beast.
The two, with fleece in hand, boarded their ship, the Argo, and sailed back to Iolcos, Jason's homeland. They found Aeson, Jason's father aged and ill, his uncle Pelias ruling the land and refusing to honor his brother's oath to abdicate the throne to Jason upon the retrieval of the Golden Fleece. Medea mixed Aeson's blood with various herbs and magic and returned the invigorating mix to his veins, instantly bringing him back from the brink of death.
Jason's cousins saw this and wished Medea perform the same magic for their father Pelias. Medea proved her magical skills to the princesses by cutting up an old ram and mixing its blood with herbs, once she added some magic, a young ram jumped from the pot. Medea convinced the princesses she could do the same for Pelias. So they went to work cutting up their father so Medea could perform the spell, however Medea and Jason were already on their way to Corinth.
In Corinth, the pair had two children. But Jason began to wander. His gaze became set on the princess, Glauce. Jason left Medea and became engaged to the princess. Medea conceded defeat to Glauce and sent her a beautiful dress and elaborate crown. What neither Glauce or her father knew was that both these items had been poisoned. As soon as the two donned the items, they both succumbed to the poison.
Jason, enraged, stormed back to his old home where he found his children slain by Medea's hand and Medea herself lifting into the sky on a chariot pulled by the dragons of Helios.
Hera, Goddess of marriage, cursed Jason to be lonely and unhappy for stepping out on his marriage and vowing to wed another. Thus Jason died alone while asleep on the Argo, a rotting board falling on and crushing him.
