Hades was lonely in the Underworld. In the division of the worlds he felt he drew the short straw; no one wanted to visit the dark Underworld with the sea and skies were an option. He approached Zeus with a request: a wife. Zeus listened carefully and finally offered Hades his daughter, Persephone. Hades was elated, Persephone was understandably less than thrilled.

Demeter, Persephone's mother, was also unhappy with this pairing. She kept Persephone with her, safe from Hades' grasp. Until one day, while gathering flowers, Hades opened the ground beneath Persephone and abducted her to the underworld.

Distraught, Demeter went to Zeus, pleading for their daughter's safe return, but in Zeus' mind, he had given Persephone to Hades; she was his property to do with what he will (ew).

Demeter searched everywhere for Persephone, but to no avail. She spent all her time on her search, she neglected her duties as the Goddess of the Harvest, and thus crops began to fail. She eventually enlisted the help of Hecate, Goddess of Ghosts. Hecate was able to go into the underworld and confirm that Persephone was in the Underworld with Hades. She told Demeter that as long as Persephone did not consume any food from the Underworld, she would be able to make a safe return.

Demeter brought this new information to Zeus, Hecate at her Side. Zeus, frustrated by the amount of prayer and pleads the gods were getting about the failing crops and starvation of humanity, relented. He sent Hermes to the Underworld to retrieve Persephone and return her to Demeter.

Alas, upon her return, Persephone revealed she had eaten 4 pomegranate seeds. So it was decided, for 4 months out of the year, Persephone would return to the Underworld as Hades' wife, making her the Queen of the Underworld.

Elated to have her daughter back, Demeter blessed the lands, making the grown lush with crops of all kind, Persephone, Goddess of Springtime, grew flowers as far as the eyes could see. But as her time to leave approached, the flowers began to wilt, and the crops began to fail. While she was gone, no flowers would grow, and no crop would produce, as Demeter was too depressed without her daughter by her side.

Wet block when finished working. Some color bleeding may happen on first wash.

The yarn is dyed in the same pot, but that by no means promises they will each take the dye the same. If you are making a large project, please feel free to reach out and I can work with you to ensure the yarn you get is from the same dyelot, or dye them special for you. I want to ensure your product turns out as beautifully as you imagine it!

Studio is not pet-free, cats and dogs are present. I try my best to avoid their contact with product, but alas. They are powerful beings.

Handwash with wash of your choice, lay flat to dry.

As this is a wool product it is fairly naturally self-cleansing. Socks should be handwashed after approximately 3 wears. Sweaters are good for up to 10 wears. And Shawls/Scarfs/Wraps are good for months.

Or you can use your own judgement and wash them when they start to smell. Do your thing, boo.

Handwash with your favorite soap, and lay flat to dry.
