Skipper is a 4-ply 100% un-mercerized cotton yarn, perfect for knitting, crochet, and crafts. Skipper is made of Peruvian Tanguis cotton, a long staple cotton that is soft – but not too soft – and very strong. A delight to work with, its variable gauge makes it ideal for baby garments, summery tees, amigurumi, accessories, or whatever else you’re hoping to create!
| Fiber Content | 100% Tanguis Cotton |
| Length | 137 yards (125 meters) / 50 gram ball |
| Gauge | 22-26 sts = 4” (10 cm) |
| Needles | US 2-4 (2.75-3.5 mm) |
| Care | Machine or hand wash cool, lay flat to dry |
Tanguis cotton was developed to be more resistant to cotton wilt, and as a result is more environmentally friendly! It requires less water to grow in Peru’s climate, and can be harvested up to six times per year. About 80% of the cotton grown in Peru is Tanguis cotton, making it readily available and its use supports existing farms and infrastructure, an important consideration when developing new products for the market.
Care Instructions
Care Instructions
As this is a wool product it is fairly naturally self-cleansing. Socks should be handwashed after approximately 3 wears. Sweaters are good for up to 10 wears. And Shawls/Scarfs/Wraps are good for months.
Or you can use your own judgement and wash them when they start to smell. Do your thing, boo.
Handwash with your favorite soap, and lay flat to dry.
